ABOUT
Purpose: SCAS is a citizen diplomacy group, promoting mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation between Sister Cities. The City of Springfield currently has two international Sister Cities relationships with partnership agreements recognized by Sister Cities International (SCI):

Ashikaga, Tochigi, Japan (est. 1990, under Mayor Ossie Langfelder )

San Pedro de Las Colonias, Coahuila, Mexico (est. 1996, under Mayor Karen Hasara)
Terms of Office: Directors shall serve for a term of three years or until a successor is installed and begins to serve. They shall be eligible for reelection, but shall not serve for more than two consecutive terms.
Duties of the Directors: The important mission of SCAS is largely carried out through the work of the Board of Directors. The energetic contributions of every Board member are vital to the effective discharge of the Association’s responsibilities. Board Members must serve on at least two committees.

Qualifications: Directors shall be elected from the membership of the Association and must continue to be members in good standing during their terms in office.
Meetings: Regular meetings are held on the second Monday of the month, unless there is a holiday, in which case, the meeting is the following Monday. They are held at 5:30 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Regular attendance is expected. Committee meetings may be called by the chair of a committee.
Selection Process: Applications are due May 1. The application form is available in the "APPLY" section or upon request from info@scasil.org. Applications received from interested candidates for the Board of Directors will be reviewed by the Leadership Development Committee. The Leadership Development Committee will present a slate of candidates to the Board for election at the May Board meeting. Directors will be elected at the Annual meeting in June.
