Our Mission
The Sister Cities Association of Springfield, Illinois is dedicated to promoting citizen diplomacy and building lasting friendships through cultural exchange. Our mission is to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between Springfield and its sister cities, including Ashikaga, Japan; Killarney, Ireland; Jining, China; and San Pedro, Mexico. We strive to create opportunities for engaging experiences, such as student and adult delegations to and from our sister cities, while encouraging community involvement in international relations.

Terms of Office: Board members shall serve for a term of three years or until a successor is installed and begins to serve. Executive Board members shall serve for a term of two years, however, no executive shall hold office beyond the expiration of his or her term on the Board. They shall be eligible for reelection, but shall not serve for more than two consecutive terms.
Duties of the Duties of the Board: The important mission of SCAS is largely carried out through the work of the Board. The energetic contributions of every Board member are vital to the effective discharge of the Association’s responsibilities. Board Members must serve on at least two committees.

Qualifications: Members shall be elected from the membership of the Association and must continue to be members in good standing during their terms in office.
Meetings: Regular meetings are held on the third Monday of the month, unless there is a holiday, in which case, the meeting is the following Monday. They are held at 6pm. Regular attendance is expected. Committee meetings may be called by the chair of a committee.
Selection Process: The application form is available in the "Get Involved" section or upon request from scasil.org@gmail.com. Applications received from interested candidates for the Board will be reviewed by the Executive Board. Members will be elected at the Annual meeting in June or July.
