San Pedro, Mexico

San Pedro de las Colonias is located in southwestern Coahuila, Mexico, situated within the semi-arid plains of the historic Comarca Lagunera region near Torreón. Formally established in 1870 by settlers and republican soldiers, the town grew into a vital agricultural hub renowned for its extensive cotton production. Rather than a modern corporate skyline, San Pedro boasts deep historical roots as a crucial cradle of the Mexican Revolution; it is famously the home where Francisco I. Madero penned his spark-igniting book, La Sucesión Presidencial de 1910. Today, the city proudly preserves its revolutionary heritage through local landmarks like the Museo Madero, serving as a classic symbol of northern Mexican history.
